OHS rules regarding tool safety.

(Don't make your tools unsafe by welding them.)

Article 01
Section 2 Obligations of employers, workers, etc.
(3) Every supplier shall ensure, as far as it is reasonably practicable for the supplier to do so, that any tool, appliance or equipment that the supplier supplies is in safe operating condition.

Article 02
Section 11 Order stopping the use of unsafe tools, appliances, etc.
(1) When an officer is of the opinion that a tool, appliance or equipment being used or that may be used by a worker
(a) is not in safe operating condition, or
(b) does not comply with the adopted code,
the officer may in writing order the worker to stop using or to refrain from using that tool, appliance or equipment.

Alberta Workplace Safety Fines

Starting Jan.1, 2014 in Alberta, employers, employees and contractors call all be given tickets from $500 to $10,000.
